Sustainability Efforts & increasing focus on ESG performance:
Various countries are passing Energy Efficiency and Conservation legislation & policies, creating Energy Transition Roadmaps to promote energy management, conservation and efficient consumption/management of energy. The use of sensors and smart meters are becoming popular in monitoring energy performance across the built environment.
Construction is focused on high-performance building envelopes, heat pumps and geothermal systems for heating/cooling. Energy production is supplementing demand using photovoltaic solar panels, wind energy production to accomplish net-zero carbon, LEED Gold, and various sustainability accreditation. In addition, organizations are focused on ‘green’ FM practices including recycling programs.Weather and climate receive plenty of attention as events – floods, fires, storms, heat – come closer together in time, resulting in insurance and other cost increases in affected regions. Industries with long planning spans such as electrical power generation, transmission, and distribution are advancing toward higher loads and reliability while steadily reducing releases into the atmosphere while increasing production.
Various governments are providing financial incentives to encourage ‘green’ and sustainable activity.Events and Presentations:
The FMCC Board and members continue to participate in various global FM events:
