#IFMAFMCC #WorldFMDay 2017 #LiveSlot1722 “Using Analytics to Measure the Organization’s FM Performance” (BoM)

“A Brave New World: The Changing Face of FM” live from USA

Overview:

The higher performance and progressive business enterprises have transitioned from viewing FM as a necessary ‘burden’ and cost center to recognizing the contributions effective facility management can deliver in support of the productivity and performance of the business.

FM organizations are constantly challenged to be ‘current’ and relevant in the support of the parent organization. It is too common that FM has not effectively communicated the transition efforts made to advance from a ‘maintenance’ function to the more strategic roles of delivering business support. While most organizations have compiled the data to demonstrate effective preventive maintenance strategies, few have effectively measured or benchmarked the contributions made to make the occupants function effectively and efficiently. On the chance these exercises have been applied, it is uncommon that the results have been publicized to the business executives. FM Analytics provides a means to validate the contributions and a means to report the status in the language of business.

The application of FM Analytics – a metrology, (system of measure) that gathers appropriate data, compares to FM industry best practices and next practices, and provides a result that can be utilized to develop strategies and action/implementation plans. This analysis can verify forward-looking FM performance and provides reasoning for changes that can justify investment and operations transformation.

The presentation will review the use of precision survey queries, the methodologies involved in the analytics process, and the validation procedures that confirm the results. In addition, there will be review of sample results and discussion on the benefits that can be gained by both the FM organization and the parent enterprise.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Become aware of FM Analytics and understand the value that can be delivered to the organization
  2. Learn about the scientific aspects of the survey and evaluation process. Includes how responses are compared to industry standards and best practices
  3. Gain awareness of this valuable tool for the FM to prove the value of the operations
  4. Review how the results can drive quality improvements and cost management strategies
