“Integrating Sustainability in Facility Management” live from KSA

For a long period of time, owners of most projects used to focus on the initial cost of any facility rather than the life-cycle costing. They considered the short-term cost saving of vital importance. Recently, there is an elaborated attention to decreasing operation & maintenance cost that constitute a considerable portion of the facility life-cycle cost. Sustainability helps to improve the usage of resources, energy and water consumption. Thus helping to reduce the operating cost of any facility. The aim of this webinar is to figure out the relationship between sustainability and Facility Management (FM) and how they enhance each other.

Sustainability is becoming increasingly important for Governments, business organizations and community at large having experienced the consequences of the global warming. There is an urgent need to change the way people think and operate. The concept of Sustainable Facilities Management has developed in parallel with the overarching concept of sustainable development and the growing appreciation of the scale of predicted climate change. One of the most important drivers to apply sustainability and green building initiatives is how this will help saving operational cost of the facility.

Case studies for simple application of renewable energy, water treatment and waste management will help understanding how sustainability is essential for realizing objectives of facility management.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Overview sustainability/FM common concepts.
  2. Illustrate the relationship between Facility Management and Sustainability.
  3. Give examples for simple application of feasible green solutions and how they improve FM.
