“Is TERRORISM in your FM PLAN?” live from Nigeria

Overview:
One of the major priority of Facilities Management is keeping people alive and safe.
From recent events unfolding the world over, disgruntled persons are making this major assignment a mirage. Directly or indirectly, facilities bear the brunt of terrorist attacks that have virtually turned into a daily occurrence.
The onus lies with the Facility Manager to alleviate fear from everyone using their facility. This can only be possible by deliberately planning for it.
To achieve this goal, the Facility Manager must endeavour to incorporate terrorism planning in his/her FM.

Learning Objectives:
The purpose of this presentation is:

  1. to examine the implications of terrorism on FM,
  2. When should the practitioner incorporate it in his assignment.
  3. the need for the Facility Manager to give required level of confidence to users of his/her facility.
  4. to maintain relatively calm and safe facility.
  5. Collaborate with other stakeholders (Government agencies, neighbours, service providers etc) to ensure continuous safety/ safe facility.
