FMCE, Facilities Management Conference & Exhibition 2019, Map the Way to Efficiencies in the Workplace was the inaugural FM conference and exhibition in Botswana which took place September 10-11, 2019. The conference drew speakers from around the region including FMCC Regional Director AINA OLUMIDE with a presentation entitled “How sustainability can help optimise building performance.” FMCC Regional Directors are progressing globally in helping IFMA become and remain known for leadership and resourcefulness.
Today, September 16, 2019, Olumide Aina, FMCC Sub-saharan Africa Regional Director, sent summary comments after the first FM Conference in Botswana concluded. About 80 participants came from south and central regions, including The Minister of Infrastructure and other officials from South Africa. Turnout was impressive for a first time region-wide FM conference. Olumide presented a paper on How Sustainability can be used to enable High Performance of Buildings.Discussions at the conference converged on developing organizational structures and functional framework for FM in Botswana. Notable in light of the FMCC Newsletter feature this month is early integration on ISO 41000 family of standards for FM.
FMCC can have a part in helping grow an IFMA presence as Botswana. Olumide writes, “I will need everyone’s support in FMCC to enable us achieve this goal before the end of the year. We need to start a Chapter this year and increase our membership at FMCC too…. I am in touch with local… interests in developing capacities and enabling a better service delivery to the demand organizations that they serve.”
