FMCC President’s BLOG – January 2020
Saturday, January 11th, 2020
Welcome to our tenth monthly newsletter.
This month’s feature by Karla Reid and Gordon Rogers continues our Need a Consultant; Here’s How guide and articles, this time from the consultant perspective in two sharply contrasting projects – one strategic, making direct use of all eleven FM competencies, and one highly adaptable, when the consulting engagement begins only after the client realizes that a great deal still remains to be defined, coordinated, and completed in advance of occupying the facility in the uncomfortably near future.
Newsletter editor – FMCC Secretary Dale Schuss moves into the role of Newsletter Editor, joining FMCC Administrator Terry Cocherl in production. I will continue as assistant but can now devote more work to other aspects of the Council. Karla Reid, who has contributed to and managed Here’s How from the start last year, is forming an ad hoc group to form and maintain an editorial group to commission and produce the monthly main feature. Please write to the editor editor-newsletter@fmcc-ifma.org if you would like to find out more. This is an opportunity to network with people you will enjoy and to share experiences and knowledge, as well as to become better known to IFMA members and staff.

Ask the Experts – You probably received an invitation from FMCC (came as a one page mail headed with the photo (below) from James Delgado as Ask The Expert coordinator. The scenario was straight forward, but urgent and multi-faceted. If you are new to FMCC, new to consulting, or an associate member, please write and send. You are the experts. As you start to write, you will realize that you bring knowledge, skills, and competence to the problem posed. FMCC exists to make FM consultants, their colleagues and clients, a regular part of the business of FM in the view of IFMA members and FMs at large. Submission deadline is nominally January 17 for the March-April issue, but FMJ has been lenient in granting small delays. Write and send an entry this weekend? (ask-the-expert@fmcc-ifma.org) We have several already but need more. Only an hour or less required; no obligation, no further work.
