Europe – Yesterday, December 14, brought the FMCC sponsored workshop Level of Use of ICT Systems in FM in the CEE countries, produced by Board member and IFMA Fellow Ondrej Strup. Over 40 speakers and guests attended. Twelve speakers from nations beginning at the Netherlands, east to the Baltic Countries, then south as far as Turkey recounted evolution from CAD to the current and still advancing dimensions of BIM, and the growing interoperability of BIM and FM O&M capabilities like CMMS. The news contains a full account and links to materials and a recording of the full program. In Events, also see the next the next CEE program, scheduled for February, on the subject of the Green Deal. This will be sponsored cooperatively by FMCC and Jos Duchamps, President of IFMA EU AB and IFMA EU.

Middle East – Board member Karla Reid continues the series of meetings and workshops on FM consulting in the region. These are open events for FMCC members. Please watch FMCC Engage and the Events section of the FMCC web site for upcoming in early 2021.

World Workplace online took place over two days last week. A feature this year is full access to recorded presentations until December 31. There’s much to recommend. If you signed up and could only attend a few sessions – basically what we all face every year – this year brings a chance to be in two or more places at once.

Balanced Scorecard and Performance – I am always interested in how well the business case and FM case align. The importance of this to an organization is difficult to exaggerate or manage too deliberately. Yesterday’s presentation by Joe DeCarlo on that subject was perhaps his best in terms of how the executive tier and operational tier below relate effectively, clearly, and to the satisfaction of both. A replay is available (https://balancedscorecard.org/bsc-basics/articles-videos/webinar-creating-strategic-alignment/)

Ask The Experts – the Board is seeking members to contribute advice for the FMJ Ask The Experts feature, following the editorial calendar for Facility Management Journal. This is an already well organized activity that carries the enjoyment of getting acquainted with members and discussing practical scenarios inviting approaches and solutions. Usually, the context is technical, people, and business. Please get in touch to try out an episode and see if it is to your liking? Contact is DavidReynoldsFM@icloud.com.

FMCC coming up – Today’s Board meeting brought up several initiatives getting underway. One that is already coming together is a gathering, tentatively in Q2 2021, for women in FM interested in consulting – as consultants, clients, or both at times.  We anticipate that a sponsor will make available a web page in the near future to gather interests and impressions for what we hope to be an opportunity for adhoc discussions, mixing women from world wide locations and the full range of career stage from the earliest interest in High School to executive and entrepreneur roles.
