Data centers are evolving at an incredible pace, growing in size, speed, and complexity across the globe. In this episode, we dive into what that acceleration really means for facilities, infrastructure, and decision-makers operating in one of the busiest physical and digital environments today. In fact, the experts in this conversation are extremely busy and joined this discussion ‘on the move.’ Much of this conversation focused on Risk and Resilience as this industry speeds forward while trying not to ‘break things.’
Fran Rabuck is a GFMA partner and avid emerging technology specialist, who has made a career out of leading organization research efforts, developing pilot applications, and evangelizing future technology. Fran provides strategy for bridging the connection of data from Construction to Owner/Operators of Facilities – and connecting silos of Facility Management Systems. He was the Associate Editor for the Association for Facilities Engineering (AFE) and the Quarterly publication – Facility Engineering Journal. He continues his work now on various industry metrics for the Infrastructure Industries and continues to speak at workshops and events on various topics. He is also working on STEM efforts to stimulate the minds of tomorrow and collaborating on the next book/course on IoT and Digital Twins for Facility Managers.
Wayne Collins, CFM, MIWFM is a partner of the Global Facility Management Alliance, LLC and manages the Canadian related entity GFMA Global Strategy Advisors Inc. He has more than 30 years of diverse facilities and strategic asset management experience in both the public and private sectors collaborating with all stakeholders to ensure contract compliance, successful financial management, the achievement of key performance objectives and the execution of a comprehensive FM and Asset management strategy that aligns with corporate goals. Wayne is a motivational leader who led his team to win the BOMA TOBY award for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. He is active in IFMA, IWFM, IAM (Institute of Asset Management), and WAPPP (World Association of PPP Units and PPP Professionals). Wayne is a Certified Facility Manager (CFM) and also holds the MIWFM designation. Wayne was also part of the first cohort of the IFMA Workplace Evolutionaries Workplace Strategy & Leadership (WSL) program which he completed in May 2021. Bob Sharon (Chief Innovation Officer) “There are no limits to what we can do or achieve, except for the ones we place in our own minds”. Bob Sharon is a passionate and tenacious ‘disruptor’ and innovator. Challenging times like the present should catalyze the yearn of pioneers to advance smart buildings, cities, and assets, to optimize the wellness of people and the planet. Bob is thus an ardent believer in the aptitude of IoT, cloud-controlled smart systems & sensors, AI, machine learning, LPWANs, and noble cybersecurity in delivering positive outcomes.
David A. Dodd, CEcD/FM/HLM is the founding President and CEO of the International Sustainable Resilience Center, Inc (ISRC) a Center of Excellence focused on climate adaptation and, disaster recovery/resilience based in New Orleans, Louisiana, US. His journey to climate adaptation began 20 years ago with recovery from Hurricane Katrina, where he was a liaison between the state’s economic development agency and federal recovery efforts. David is currently involved in two critical leadership roles: 1) Leading development of guidelines for integrating resilience into infrastructure projects, both new and existing, for the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe’s International Public Private Partnership Centre of Excellence; and 2) Providing an analysis on lack of utilization from multilateral climate funding sources for the World Association of Public Private Partnership Units and Professionals, of which he is a founding member.
