Since that time, Brown has held senior posts in the Caribbean, UK/Europe, and the Middle East. After more than 20 years managing the built environment for both private and public sector organizations, Brown founded FM-adviso to support organizations with specialist and credentials training in addition to consulting on operational efficiency, outsourcing, policies and procedures, contract management, environmental matters, and emergency response / business continuity.
Why was this Award established?
The Facility Management Consultants Council (FMCC) has established an academic scholarship award for consultants in facilities organizations. This award is named after Kit Tuveson who has contributed immensely to FMCC, IFMA and the FM profession. Kit was a mentor and role model for “budding” consultants. The intention is to select and award the scholarship annually at World Workplace, subject to the submission of suitable nominations.
The responsibilities of FM consultants are constantly changing, and a career requires credentials and effective skills in communication, relationship building, and problem solving. Successful consultants show an ability to provide and maintain effective workplaces, an awareness of workplace trends and technology, and dedication to professional ethics and values.
The Scholarship Award has a value of up to USD $1,500 towards the cost of attaining IFMA credentials, subject to the FMCC budget. The criteria may change to emphasize the goals and expectations of the Council, and the needs presented for credentials enhancement.
Who is on the Selection Committee?
This committee reflects the experience, knowledge, and depth of the Facility Management Consultants Council. Kit Tuveson, the person for whom this award is named, contributed to this committee with his insights, knowledge, and wisdom prior to his passing earlier this year. The committee believes that the selection of this awardee promotes the strength of FMCC and advances the ideals that Kit espoused.
