“Facility Management in the Central and East Europe (CEE), Opportunities and Challenges”

Ondrej Strup, IFMA Fellow; Secretary FMCC; CEO, Hein Consulting CZ; CEO, FM Institute

Overview:

The countries of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) are largely thought of as not yet well developed in facility management. Partly this is true. Most FM consulting clients do not perceive modern FM trends, instead regarding FM as the technical management of buildings. At the same time, you can find well developed implementation of integrated FM systems (TFM), where a single provider handles a wide range of services for the client. The client organization views the FM provider as supporting its employees and as a partner, not only in cost savings, but in taking a modern approach to improve performance.

In preparation for World FM Day, 2016, Ondrej Strup asked representatives from several CEE countries to assess their situation: how to access FM and how FM is perceived by client organizations. The presentation will take a comprehensive approach to his findings.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Introduce the situation in the various countries of the CEE region.
  2. Highlight positive examples of FM implementation.
  3. What still hampers the development of FM?
  4. What can CEE countries bring to other countries?
